Transformation is a great place to start for January's studio news.

Hello everyone. I am feeling very positive about 2024, there is a great deal to look forward to. I have just delivered my painting "Swirling Blossoms" to the Artspring Gallery in Tonbridge High Street for their exhibition titled 'Transformation" which is on from 10th Jan until the 27th Jan open Wednesday - Saturday 11-4. Here is the work in progress for my entry to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

The theme is "Space" and mixed media painting is called "Family Matters." The deadline for digital submissions is the 13th February. This is my first time, have you ever submitted work to the show? What was your experience? The odds of being short listed are almost zero but it is a good exercise in learning how to present work with all the rules and regulations to abide by.

January is also the month for registering with South East Open Studios and Art in June. I plan to open Longmeadow Studio for the whole of June and will be opening our large cottage garden at the same time. More news and details on that in my March newsletter.

I am still adding work to the website portfolio so do keep popping in to have a look. The shop will be open very soon once I have overcome a few logistical issues. I am also working on a page "For Artists" accessible to you if you sign up with your email address. To start with it will have printable PDFs of assorted techniques that I use in my artist book making and maybe a few short videos. You can already find me on instagram @janesherwoodartist just click on the link below, and of course on Facebook. It will take me a little longer to get my Youtube channel running smoothly and the same goes for Pinterest, but watch this space.

I am looking forward to a busy two months to take those winter blues away and I will write again in March when hopefully we will have a bit of spring sunshine.
