Art in June at Longmeadow 2026

Updated: Jun 2

The annual open studios event has rushed up on me this year but I am just about ready. Next week sees the final preparations with Mary McCarten setting up her glass sculptures in the garden and her decorative glassware in the gallery. Mary has some exciting new work along with her familiar bowls, dishes and trinkets. It is well worth a visit to see Mary's glass sparkle in the sunshine. All her work is frost proof and her stands are powder coated to protect against rust.

Samantha Nixon is an experienced ceramicist and I am delighted that she is joining us. It is Sam's first time with Art in June and we are hoping she will want to do many more. There is something for everyone with stoneware pots, bowls and mugs in a variety of colours and styles. With a quirky new range in addition to more traditional designs. Sam also teaches pottery in her Edenbridge studio, take a look at her website for details. https://www.handsonclay.co.uk

I am excited to be showing some of my prototype ceramic books that I have made with Sam's help. They each have a theme closely linked to my family history research and are quite personal. I have built a small museum area in the studio to display an assortment of artefacts and artworks connecting my ancestors in a variety of ways. If you are interested in geneology I hope you will find the many different ways I have found to present my discoveries an inspiring experience. I am also showing over 20 new paintings and a new range of Art on a Card, small one off originals. There is an eclectic mix of art with prices to suit all pockets and no pressure to buy.

So now to the details.

Longmeadow Studio will be open from next Friday 5th June until Sunday 21st June, Thursday-Sunday, 11am-4pm. I will be present throughout and demonstrating ecoprinting on demand. Mary will be around on Thursdays & Saturdays and Sam, Fridays & Sundays. We will be serving tea, coffee and homemade cake in aid of Hospice in the Weald every day that we are open. If you can't make it when we are open I am happy to give private views by appointment. Our large country garden is worth a visit, it is quite magical this year with the wild flowers still in bloom and plants popping up just where they feel like it. I do love a bit of wild gardening.

Remember to look out for the yellow guides or download the FREE AIJ App to get more details on all this year's artists and studios. There will be plenty of signs to guide you in to Longmeadow Studio, Puddledock Lane TN16 1PU with free parking in the field adjacent to the studio. We look forward to seeing you and chatting about all things art and gardening over a cuppa and cake. See you there.

Best wishes JaneS.
